I've spent over two decades working inside developer tools companies — JetBrains, MongoDB, and others — close enough to developers to understand what they actually need, and close enough to product decisions to know how rarely those two things naturally align. The hard part of building developer tools isn't the technology. It's understanding the gap between what developers say they want and what genuinely helps them. I've spent my career bridging that gap: through developer advocacy, through writing and speaking, and now through product work that puts customer insight at the centre.
